What I Do

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice located in Nevada City, California.  I work from an Integrative approach, which means that I unite a variety of therapeutic modalities with the perspective of treating a client as a whole being (mental, physical, cultural, faith).

The modalities I use to support clients in their courageous journey of self-exploration and healing include expressive arts therapy, attachment-based therapy, and EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing).  I also offer faith-based therapy for those so inclined where a foundation of faith based approaches can powerfully support a client's healing journey.  Please see Approach for more information about these modalities.

The primary focus of my work is to create a safety for clients to inquire, explore and transmute adverse systemic beliefs, patterns, and behaviors that are often times a result of trauma and emotional wounding. Going unresolved, these wounds can manifest into depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress symptoms that can create great difficulties in relating to oneself, others, and the external world. It is important to address and work through these struggles with gentle guidance as well as acquire the necessary tools for creating a more fulfilled life being more aware, embodied and resourced. As a humble witness, I have found that once clients have worked through these challenges, they tend to experience more contentment, creativity, and purposefulness in their lives.
